We turn up at "The Lane", home of football, to find because of the basketball we are moved to the top changing rooms, is this a bad omen? The 1st half we showed an obvious lack of fitness and energy and were unable to make any inroads into our opponents area. With only Ben. M ( r.mid) showing any passion and effort we were relieved to go in at the break level. Surely the 2nd half couldn't be as poor!!! Now facing the low sun it was difficult to see the other end of the pitch but that didnt matter because most of the play was in our half by Croxley. There still wasn't much of a spark after Croxley scored, 20 mins from time. But then, a few minutes from the end of the game we have a chance, a great chance to get a point from the game. Picture the scene, as the autumn sun beats down, the ball is crossed and finds it's way to the feet of our "prolific" striker. He's unmarked 16 yards out with only the keeper to beat. The ever decreasing crowd hold their breath he takes a touch the keeper tries to narrow the angle he pulls back the trigger, there are cries of "shoot" he fires, his team mates leap with expected elation and the ball is shinned past the post. Unlucky Cookie (striker?) See you next week.
We have the potential to do well this year but we need to bring passion, effort and commitment to every game.
M.O.M.- Ben Mitchell
